Garlic For Healthy Aging

Garlic, often called a miracle food, is not always to everyone's liking. –  But it is very healthy for you as you age.

Garlic reduces the development of tumors, reduces breast cancer side effects, surpasses penicillin in the combat against 8 types of bacteria and protects people who have had a heart attack from having a second one.  Furthermore, garlic contains over 200 vitamins and minerals such as calcium, potassium, iron and zinc.

Unbelievably, it seems to work wonders on every human medical condition such as reducing cholesterol, appeasing teeth and ear aches, and curing flu and its symptoms.

An Age Esteem tip to take away the strong taste and smell of the garlic: Just take out the green bulb in the middle of each clove.

Add garlic to your meat roasts, vegetable platters and soups. Food will taste delicious when prepared with garlic! – And it will help you age healthfully.

If you have not yet signed up for the Age Esteem Telesummit, do it now!

The following feedback offers you a taste of why you will want to sign up and receive the recordings of the talks you missed – all are free during a limited time.

"Just a quick note to tell you I think your telesummit,  with the most amazing speakers, is fantastic!  I know there are 2 more days, but it has been extremely enlightening and the quality of the information and delivery so far is fabulous.

I especially resonated with Tina Lifford's concept of "Inner Fitness" and the importance of cultivating skills of resilience and optimism. Her message and examples were terrific.  As I rushed home from exercise class to hear her, I realized I do not spend anywhere near the time on inner fitness as I do on physical fitness.

Dr. Jen Palmer answered so many questions I have had (what supplements do we really need and why), and having her be specific with dosage and brands both during her presentation and then on your website was so appreciated.  The idea that "Being Sedentary is equivalent to Smoking" (not sure I quoted correctly) in relation to oxygen getting to the brain and body was a real eye opener.  She has such a lovely delivery – it was like you were sitting in her office and she was talking just to you.

And how I adored today hearing the "Professional Age-Esteem Bonnie Fatio".  The first item on my list you asked us to make "What do I love about being 67 (my age)" is that now that I am retired, I have the time to call in to a conference which is uplifting, motivating, thought provoking, stimulating and hopefully so good that I truly incorporate the new information in my daily life.  I always take away so many ideas from your presentations ("Spam your negative thoughts", give a specific name to your fears, YOU are in the Driver's Seat of your life).

Thank you Bonnie Fatio for all you do to energize everyone with whom you come in contact.  I know you worked hours to create this telesummit.  What a gift to listeners and readers (I copied some of the free material and will send to friends).

Looking forward to the next 2 speakers!" – Diana Johnson, Arizona, USA

Prevent Poor Circulation

Do not let poor circulation become a problem as you age.

Do your legs feel heavy like they are carrying lead sometimes?  This is caused by poor circulation.  There can be several reasons for this.  Sun, heat and even air travel can contribute to poor circulation.

Good news. This can be prevented. As blood stagnates in the legs, you can do various things on a daily basis to eliminate this condition.

  • Finish a bath or a shower with cold water.
  • Move as much as possible by walking, swimming, bicycling, dancing, whatever.
  • Avoid crossing your legs, wearing high heel shoes and tight slacks.
  • Drink a lot of water.

Combatting Allergies For Healthy Aging

The beautiful season of spring is here.  The earth is bursting with color. – White apple blossoms, the pink of cherry trees, the yellow of forsythia, and the purple of lilac to name a few.   However, there is also pollen, which brings terrible allergies.

Respiratory allergies are very prevalent today.  Pollen also affects the eyes making them itchy, and the nose stuffy.  Asthma becomes a nightmare for some.  It seems that one is never born with asthma but over the years it develops due to allergies.

More and more people today are diagnosed with these symptoms, which is probably due to our modern way of living.  Allergies come from an over-developed immune system.

Feeling miserable with allergies can effect your age esteem, so for healthy aging and healthy age esteem practice the following tips when pollen fills the air.

When spring approaches and the pollen is rampant, there are a few things one can do to help.  Close windows in the morning when the pollen is most present; do not put clothes or sheets outside; wash hair in the evening and avoid picnics and nature walks.  Unfortunately, this is difficult to do during this season. but it will help to control the allergies.

Should symptoms become really bad, medical attention should be received because the allergies can become severe.

One positive point: This condition does not last!

Friendly Bacteria

Friendly Bacteria

Did you know that more than 100 billion bacteria, 1.5 kilograms of them, live in our intestines!!

Their task is varied. There are friendly bacteria, which help to digest the food we eat, maintain the immune system and prevent pathological bacteria from developing. Thus your intestines should be well looked after.

How? By what you eat. A balanced and varied diet is essential. Foods rich in fat are to be avoided. Plain yogurt without sugar and the bifidus drinks are the answer.

Can Money Buy Good Health?

Can Money Buy Good Health?

They say that money cannot buy good health.  However, some research shows that rich people are in better health than poor people.  This is based on the result of a study that indicates that people with lower incomes go less often to the doctor because of the expense involved.  Let’s face it. Healthcare can be very expensive.

Yet, in today’s world, there is so much about nutrition and good health that one just needs to read and to research to know what should be eaten and what lifestyle to lead.

Pharmacies, too, can be a great aid in helping people manage their health.

Free Fitness Workout For Healthy Aging

Free Fitness Workout For Healthy Aging

Housework.  Does just the mention of the word make you cringe?  Perhaps. And yet, housework is good for you! It is relaxing and it is a free fitness workout.  So tell your cleaning person good-bye, put on your work clothes and get down to some serious business.

Housework is healthy exercise for all ages and both men and women.

Believe it or not, studies have shown (British Journal of Sports Medicine) that doing housework decreases stress and the risk of depression. The mind is occupied in thinking about what is to be cleaned, with what, and which type of cleaning product.  Then the fact of doing the cleaning with the stretching, knee bending, arm movements, and even weight lifting in carrying laundry or other heavy things to tidy up the house or apartment is good physical exercise.

The joy of seeing an improvement is uplifting.  Furniture sparkles; rugs are clean; mirrors shine. – And just think.  It is something that you have done yourself.   Already the body feels better.

The word housework should no longer make you cringe, but motivate you.  You are doing something positive and even artistic and creative; for example, you might re-arrange furniture, add some flowers, or move around objects for a new look in the room.

Whatever you do, do not throw away your cleaning equipment!

Hair And Healthy Aging

Hair And Healthy Aging

Our hair is important to us.  As we begin to lose it as we age, it may even seem more important to us.  It is “the frosting on the cake” for the human body, making one feel and look beautiful.

The hair industry certainly helps the economy as well. Think of all the hair products for sale and the advertisements that you see everywhere.  The hairdressing profession also engages many people

Yet, there is an even more important role that hair plays. – That of telling us how many toxic metals we have in our body.  Toxic metals are minerals that are not useful for human health and are poisonous to the body.  They can promote such conditions as fatigue, memory loss, depressive humor and lack of concentration.

Lead, arsenic, nickel and mercury, which is often found in fish, are some of these toxic minerals.  Necessary elements for the body are iron, zinc, magnesium and calcium.

A few strands of hair can be analyzed to show which substances are in your body.  Some pharmacies will perform this analysis.  In today’s world it is easy to accumulate these toxins.  The body absorbs them even through the jewelry that you wear.  Maybe it would be wise to remove your jewelry when at home, except for wedding rings, of course, where no one sees you!

How to get rid of toxic metals?  Drink a lot of water, exercise to transpire a lot and go to saunas.  Dandelion greens and garlic also help to eliminate toxic metals.

The hair, therefore, is a wonderful gift of nature which stores information that can improve health and heal the body.

Something Is Fishy

Fish

Something Is Fishy

The expression, something is fishy, seems appropriate as we receive mixed messages concerning the benefits of eating fish for our aging bodies.

For years we have been encouraged to eat fish. Latest studies show that salmon, even though it is valuable and efficient against cardio-vascular disease, is now known to be polluted and can be dangerous to your health. Also antibiotics are used in some farm-raised fish and seafood which raises health questions as well.

It is recommended not to eat more than two or three portions of fish each week and to alternate fatty fish with non-fatty fish.
