Choices

Choices

Choices are so hard for me:

What to do? And what to see?

What to drink? And what to eat?

How to think and who to meet;

When to speak and what to say?

When to work and when to play?

I do know that it’s, as they say,

Better to let come what may!

And, besides, those questions seem

To solve themselves, with Age Esteem!

Time Is Running By

Time running

Time Is Running By

Time is running by so fast

Now it’s Now, and then it’s past!

Soon it’s going to be tomorrow,

Time is something you can’t borrow –

It is a gift: a daily “present”!

Open it and become resplendent.

Day by day you are a beam:

Light and bright with Age Esteem.

Grandmother’s Secret

Baking soda

Grandmother’s Secret

Grandmother’s secret, Soda bicarbonate – good old fashion Baking Soda, is a miracle for many uses. It has  no chemicals – completely natural – and very, very inexpensive. It was used to wash fruits and vegetables in former times.

Baking Soda absorbs bad smells be they in the refrigerator or on rugs, whitens teeth, cleans combs, gives cut flowers a longer life and eliminates wine spots. A box of baking soda in the refrigerator will keep food longer and tasting fresher. It cleans the bottom of pots and pans when they are burned.

A bath with baking soda is so relaxing. – Try one to enhance your age esteem.

Keep several boxes of baking soda on hand.  It will probably work for whatever you wish!

Sunshine For Age Esteem

The sunshine is very good for you at every stage in life.

Latest studies have shown that it is an important factor in many ways to improving health at all ages. It increases the immune system, aids in preventing aging of the eyes, and reduces the level of heart disease, as has been found in many Mediterranean countries. Above all, sunshine enhances your mood.  This in turn can play an active role in influencing good health, just as your age esteem does.

The family’s here, it’s so much fun,

So much to do, so much we’ve done.

We’re in!  We’re out!  We’re here and there,

The dishes wait, but then, who cares!

I try to act like I’m sixteen

(That’s when I practice Age Esteem!)

Life borders on the near sublime

It’s good to pay no heed to time!

How Do You Define Health?

How Do You Define Health?

How do you define health?  If we wish to be healthy as we age we need to define what it means. The definition given below is also a good definition of  age-esteem. – The difference being that you can have age-esteem even in the presence of disease.  Age-esteem is dependent on a positive attitude toward life in all circumstances.

Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.

CoffeeCoffee For Age Esteem

In the course of one year, 150 studies have shown that coffee can have a positive effect on diseases such as cardio-vascular disease, cancer of the digestive system, diabetes, Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s. Even dry eyes have been known to improve by drinking coffee.

Of course, one must not over indulge, but two to three cups per day is suggested.

It is not sure if it is the caffeine or other substances in the drink which are so beneficial.  What does seem certain is that coffee is good for you.

Not A Mother?

May 11th, 2013 Comments off

Happy Mother's Day

Not a mother?  Read on.

This week-end we will honor mothers.  Mothers are the breath of life.  We are born from the womb of our mother.

However, she may not be the one who is there to raise us.  For numerous reasons we may be raised by someone who did not give birth to us. – And this person becomes our mother, the one we turn to for oh so much in life.

Even those who do have a mother in the home are often raised at least partially by someone else.   We have many mother figures in our lives.  These are women who guide, mentor, encourage, support and advise us.  They are our role models for relationships, work, finance, education, health, and savoir-faire.   These women are equally precious in our lives.

Are you one of these women?  Then you too are to be honored on this Mother’s Day.   You have an opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of young girls and women of all agesthrough your example and your interest in helping them become confident and to reach their greater potential.  –  And there is no age limit for this.

Women with age esteem mentor other women of all ages.

A Film For Age Esteem – Quartet

Quartet is a delightful film that openly addresses, with humor, the trials of growing old.  Directed by Dustin Hoffman, now 75, it stars a quartet of age-esteemers: Maggie Smith 78, Billie Connolly 71, Pauline Collins 73, and Tom Courtenay 76.

Together they prove that age is not for sissies (famous quote from Bette Davis).  At the same time they prove that how you live your age is your choice.  They each choose to live it manifesting many of the traits of age esteem.

  • There is still room for romance and love.
  • You are meant to share your talents at every age.
  • Passion for what you love to do continues to drive your actions.
  • Relationships with friends of all ages remain key as we age.
  • Growing old is a continuation of life and living.

No, age is not for sissies.  Choose how you want to live your age.

A Film For Age Esteem

Note: Our film critic, Neptune Ingwersen rates this film as *** Very Good.  I would add an extra star as a film for Age Esteem.  – See tomorrow’s blog to know why.  »  Bonnie Fatio

Quartet  ***  A legend of cinema known for his versatile acting, Dustin Hoffman proves  quite capable as first-time director of this sweet, moving and amusing tale of aging opera singers in a seniors’ home somewhere in England. One could mention that the luxury of the surroundings and elaborate meals are unrealistic or that the script is somewhat formulaic, but the pleasurable warmth and familiarity of a story graced by Maggie Smith as a diva, an incorrigible Billy Connolly and the adorable Pauline Collins of Shirley Valentine fame make up for any small glitches.
