Mothers Day

Happy Mother’s Day To All Women

My mother was an exceptional, loving, positive, intelligent and gifted woman. Each memory of her is special. I am thankful that she was my mother and for all she taught me and the example she provided.

I am equally thankful for the other women who were my guides, teachers, supporters and role models. Many of them were not “mothers” as a result of giving birth; however each mothered me in some way. The same is true for our daughter. Many other women play an important role in her life. For both of us these other precious women were, and continue to be, teachers, scout leaders, aunts, cousins, godmothers, and friends who step in to show the way and to advise and model.

To each of these women and to each of you I say, “Happy Mothers Day!”

Mothers Are Precious

Mother's DayHappy Mother’s Day 2013

What is your favorite memory of your mother?

In several countries of the world, today is dedicated as Mother’s Day.  It is a day to honor our mothers and to recognize all that they have done and continue to do for us.

I would like to give a special thought to the single mother who is juggling motherhood with working to earn an adequate income, often entailing more than one job, to clothe and feed her children.

I would also like to recognize the Grandmothers around the world who are raising their grandchildren.

Let us celebrate all who are acting in the role of Mother, whether temporarily or permanently.

Not A Mother?

Happy Mother's Day

Not a mother?  Read on.

This week-end we will honor mothers.  Mothers are the breath of life.  We are born from the womb of our mother.

However, she may not be the one who is there to raise us.  For numerous reasons we may be raised by someone who did not give birth to us. – And this person becomes our mother, the one we turn to for oh so much in life.

Even those who do have a mother in the home are often raised at least partially by someone else.   We have many mother figures in our lives.  These are women who guide, mentor, encourage, support and advise us.  They are our role models for relationships, work, finance, education, health, and savoir-faire.   These women are equally precious in our lives.

Are you one of these women?  Then you too are to be honored on this Mother’s Day.   You have an opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of young girls and women of all agesthrough your example and your interest in helping them become confident and to reach their greater potential.  –  And there is no age limit for this.

Women with age esteem mentor other women of all ages.

We Learn To Be Mothers Very YoungTo “mothers” of all ages

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY !

Today Age Esteem celebrates each of you. – Mothers, aunts, Godmothers, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, sisters and friends.

We are thankful that you have nurtured, loved, guided, prodded, mentored, and led another to grow into a better person and to become independent and capable of loving and nurturing others.

Being a mother or a mother figure in the life of another person is one of the most precious roles life offers.

I am forever grateful for the women, known and unknown, who have grown me into the woman I am and continue to accompany me on my journey.

Thank You!

Mother’s Day Traditions

Happy Mother’s Day!

Most countries have a special day to celebrate mothers.  Mother’s Day is a wonderful occasion for traditions:  children make little gifts and cards in school; bouquets of flowers are gathered; poems are written; mother’s chores are done by others so she can rest…  There are multiple ways to make a mother feel special.  Why not try one of the following?

  • Make a picture album with photos of you and your mother and grandmother.
  • Create a book of Memories with Mom.  Fill each page with a special memory.
  • Sprinkle her home with notes of love.  Put notes in places where she is sure to find them: refrigerator, medicine cabinet, pillow on her bed,…  On each note write something that you love about her.  This can be fun to do with your children for their grandmother.
  • If your mother is no longer alive, adopt a mother for the day.
  • Reach out to women who have touched your life and remind them of what they mean to you and that you love them.
