You Are Special At Every Age
You look in the mirror – the mirror looks back.
It is your reflection, but there’s something it lacks.
Your face is the place where the person is you.
But your innermost self needs to really shine through.
Smiling begins the whole transformation
And then cheer and real joy and elation.
Ignore all the manifestations of Age
You’re special and startling at every stage.

Written On A Bumpy Bus!
I’m writing from a Greyhound Bus,
A Public Transportation.
I’m learning not to make a fuss,
Instead: a celebration!
Happy to be traveling on
To one more destination.
As my life goes unraveling on –
On to a brand new station.
One can voyage without leaving home
By letting your mind wander,
Creating mood trips, like a poem:
Vast passages to ponder!

Happy International Day of Older Persons
“The world population is rapidly ageing. Between 2000 and 2050, the proportion of the world’s population over 60 years will double from about 11% to 22%. The absolute number of people aged 60 years and over is expected to increase from 605 million to
2 billion over the same period.” (World Health Organization)
Age is not what it used to be. We are living longer and fuller lives. Age-esteemers know there are joys to being an older person. Age-esteemers continue to contribute their expertise and talents to the world. Age-esteemers love, laugh and make the most of what they have.
Join AgeEsteem® in celebrating this day of recognition for the contributions of older people.

Our Autumn Days
We’re entering our Autumn days,
That sounds like my own “Oughta” phase.
I oughta start out every minute
With only positive thoughts within it!
I oughta be so grateful for
The Life outside my home’s front door.
I oughta give my age a chance:
A kind of Autumn leafy dance,
And shimmer like a Harvest moon
As Twilight enters in my room.
Autumn ought not end a Summer’s dream,
It oughta Fall on Age Esteem!

Life Is A Trip
Goodbye, Farewell, I am going on a voyage,
But Life is a trip from “here to there”;
I’ll return with lots of notes: a mental forage,
Resplendent, receptive and prepared:
For the journey through the vicissitudes of Time,
Step by step, hour by hour, day by day,
(While stopping on the way to write a rhyme!)
Traveling and marveling The Way.

Under The Rainbow
Somewhere, under the Rainbow,
Tempers fly…
Moods grow grim, and Spirits cry.
If, instead, we’d see the glow
Of all those colors in the sky
And shed our cares and worthless woes,
The Rainbows could respond to “Why?”
Our Pots of Gold are lost below.

I Don’t Know Why
I don’t know why they often say:
“Oh, she old, she’s turning gray!”
Gray is neither black nor white,
It shows you’re neutral in your sight –
Not too strong and not too weak,
Measuring the goals you seek;
And then there’s what is called “gray matter”,
That’s the Brain, the side we flatter,
The person whose talents don’t abate:
She’s fun. She’s someone who we’ll call GRAYTE!

Savor Your Uniqueness
Why do we care about hair?
It’s ours and it’s us and it’s there!
We fuss if it’s straight, if it’s curly, we hate
To look furly, but it’s
Our “atmosphair”!
We often just wish we could change:
Our old clothes? A new nose?
It’s so strange.
It is best to just be our own selves,
Where our soul and uniqueness both delve;
There are no two “us” in the world –
Let’s keep floating free and unfurled!

Row, Row, Row Your Boat
Row, row, row your boat
Calmly up each stream.
Cheerfully, fearlessly, stay afloat,
Alive with Age Esteem.
Grow, grow, grow your roots
Deeply, with each dream,
Brightly, mightily do what suits
Yourself, with Age Esteem!

Emboldened By Age
Spring is the thing we
Should do as we walk.
Sing is to ring with our
Voice when we talk.
Sun is but one of our
Lights in the sky,
Fun’s how to come forth and
Feel satisfied.
Play is the way to find words
With your mind.
Display and relay good moods
And be kind!
Dreams are like reams of
Each Life’s daily page,
Esteem should be seen as
Emboldened by age.
