Pedigree

A Pedigree*

A Pedigree

You would agree

Sounds something good to have.

Horses have it,

So do dogs,

As well as Heifer calves.

We all have “pedigreements”

Superior and grand.

Just try ESTEEMent good sense

And wave an ageless hand.

* When a friend was visiting us for three weeks in Geneva, Switzerland she was invited to many of the events we attended. Rather than try to translate when people spoke about who was related to whom and how they were related, which is a favorite conversation among the Genevois, I would simply say “pedigree”.  Thus the theme of Alexandra Taylor’s poem. – Bonnie Fatio

Nature’s Clever Scheme

Our lives are just like seasons

Ever changing and renewed,

We age for many reasons,

There’s no time to fret or brood!

We Spring first towards Summer’s suns

Then Fall forth ‘till Winter comes.

Think of Nature’s clever scheme

When you practice AGE ESTEEM!

Combatting Allergies For Healthy Aging

Combatting Allergies For Healthy Aging

The beautiful season of spring is here.  The earth is bursting with color. – White apple blossoms, the pink of cherry trees, the yellow of forsythia, and the purple of lilac to name a few.   However, there is also pollen, which brings terrible allergies.

Respiratory allergies are very prevalent today.  Pollen also affects the eyes making them itchy, and the nose stuffy.  Asthma becomes a nightmare for some.  It seems that one is never born with asthma but over the years it develops due to allergies.

More and more people today are diagnosed with these symptoms, which is probably due to our modern way of living.  Allergies come from an over-developed immune system.

Feeling miserable with allergies can effect your age esteem, so for healthy aging and healthy age esteem practice the following tips when pollen fills the air.

When spring approaches and the pollen is rampant, there are a few things one can do to help.  Close windows in the morning when the pollen is most present; do not put clothes or sheets outside; wash hair in the evening and avoid picnics and nature walks.  Unfortunately, this is difficult to do during this season. but it will help to control the allergies.

Should symptoms become really bad, medical attention should be received because the allergies can become severe.

One positive point: This condition does not last!

Life Is A Patchwork

Life Is A Patchwork

Life is a patchwork, full of seams,

Stitched together by Age Esteem!

Sewn and gowned with bolts of Time

Hemmed and mended (like this rhyme!).

If this pattern’s good to the end

I’d design it for all my friends!

Perfection

Perfection

Perfection

How do you describe perfection?

Perfect weather, place and mood?

It’s a kind of resurrection

From a tendency to brood!

Every day should be better

Than the one that went before;

Send yourself a mental letter,

Stamp your mind with joy galore!

Sowing Happiness of Age Esteem

Sowing Happiness of Age Esteem

Hurrying is worrying if you don’t

Take time to live!

Living means giving every moment

A kind of “sieve”:

Sifting our bad habits which make

Old age a chore,

Lifting up your spirits and spreading

Joy galore –

Growing ever brighter and with

Shining inner beams –

Sowing seeds of happiness

Through your Age Esteem.

Life’s Stitches

Stitches

Life’s Stitches

I am much older but it seems

I feel better (bolder) through Age Esteem –

Going on with hope and daring,

Holding on to friends by caring.

If this continues to the end

All of Life’s stitches I would mend

And I’d have sewn my ragged days

Into patchworked finer ways!

Lemon – A Friend To Aging Bodies

Lemon – A Friend To Aging Bodies

Lemon is indeed a friend to aging bodies and to how you feel about yourself, your age esteem.

Lemon offers much more than vitamin C.  It is known to help in easing the pain of acne, prostate and arteriosclerosis. It even benefits weight loss.

For beauty treatments, lemon aids in eliminating spots on the skin, destroys dandruff and beautifies nails.

Two other practical benefits: Lemon also chases mosquitoes away and helps to prevent tears when you are peeling onions.

Relieve Nervous Tension To Free Age Esteem

Tension

Relieve Nervous Tension To Free Age Esteem

It can be difficult to feel good about yourself when you are tense with tight muscles.

Treat nervous tension with these natural remedies to feel good at the age you are and enhance your age esteem.

Rapeseed oil, because of its great quantity of omega-3 fatty acids, is very effective in calming.  Omega-3 assures the good functioning of the membranes of nervous cells.  The vitamin B complex, especially 6, 9 and 12 are necessary for good nervous equilibrium.  Magnesium is necessary for the brain’s working on the nervous system.

Herbal teas such as chamomile are soothing.  Essential oils such as lavender, basil, mandarin and geranium aid via massages in calming one’s nerves.

Last, but not least, exercise of all kinds, even a gentle walk in the woods, will alleviate nervous stress.
