The Therapy Of Writing

Writing on wall

The Therapy of Writing

Writing on the wall or better yet, writing on paper(!) is a very rewarding therapy.  It engages the brain to think more clearly and coherently than typing on a machine.

Writing releases emotions and can alleviate depression or trauma. It seems to soothe and calm. It makes one more creative as well according to some studies.

Of course, today it is not very practical when everyone seems to be in a rush, and the computer can correct spelling errors and do all kinds of tasks; but even making a shopping list or writing down reminders will be of some aid.

As we age there are moments when we feel lonely, forgotten and depressed. When that happens, put on your age esteem smile, pick up a pen or pencil and write!

Test the therapy of writing. Whenever you feel stressed or anxious, sit down and write something. – It does not have to be a novel!

Savor Your Uniqueness

Savour Your uniqueness

Savor Your Uniqueness

Why do we care about hair?

It’s ours and it’s us and it’s there!

We fuss if it’s straight, if it’s curly, we hate

To look furly, but it’s

Our “atmosphair”!

We often just wish we could change:

Our old clothes?  A new nose?

It’s so strange.

It is best to just be our own selves,

Where our soul and uniqueness both delve;

There are no two “us” in the world –

Let’s keep floating free and unfurled!

Row, Row, Row Your Boat

Row your boat

Row, Row, Row Your Boat

Row, row, row your boat

Calmly up each stream.

Cheerfully, fearlessly, stay afloat,

Alive with Age Esteem.

Grow, grow, grow your roots

Deeply, with each dream,

Brightly, mightily do what suits

Yourself, with Age Esteem!

Emboldened By Age

Embolden

Emboldened By Age

Spring is the thing we

Should do as we walk.

Sing is to ring with our

Voice when we talk.

Sun is but one of our

Lights in the sky,

Fun’s how to come forth and

Feel satisfied.

Play is the way to find words

With your mind.

Display and relay good moods

And be kind!

Dreams are like reams of

Each Life’s daily page,

Esteem should be seen as

Emboldened by age.

Summer Age Esteem

Summer

Summer Age Esteem

Heat and Sweat are summer names

Pronounced apart, but spelled the same.

When it’s hot the sun just beams,

Showing it has Age Esteem!

It is much better to perspire

Than let your spirits all expire.

So sweat and glow

And heat your soul!

And never let your fire tire!

Choices

Choices

Choices

Choices are so hard for me:

What to do? And what to see?

What to drink? And what to eat?

How to think and who to meet;

When to speak and what to say?

When to work and when to play?

I do know that it’s, as they say,

Better to let come what may!

And, besides, those questions seem

To solve themselves, with Age Esteem!

Time Is Running By

Time running

Time Is Running By

Time is running by so fast

Now it’s Now, and then it’s past!

Soon it’s going to be tomorrow,

Time is something you can’t borrow –

It is a gift: a daily “present”!

Open it and become resplendent.

Day by day you are a beam:

Light and bright with Age Esteem.

Merry, Merry

Tap your feet

Merry, Merry

Merry, merry’s NOT contrary,

But how to feel most days.

Cheery, cheery’s far from dreary

As you went your ways.

Upbeat, upbeat, tap your two feet,

And swing your life in tune.

Repeat, repeat:  “Life’s a great treat,”

It’s over much too soon.

A Person With Style

A Person With Style

A Person With Style!

Wow!  There is a person with style!

Her presence makes everyone smile!

She’s as young as she seems

Filled with ageless esteem,

Her life is a journey worthwhile.

All it takes is a mind set for joy.

It will come, and you’ll feel, well, Oh, Boy!

“Why didn’t I show

My most inner glow

And appeal, instead of annoy?”

How Do You Define Health?

How Do You Define Health?

How do you define health?  If we wish to be healthy as we age we need to define what it means. The definition given below is also a good definition of  age-esteem. – The difference being that you can have age-esteem even in the presence of disease.  Age-esteem is dependent on a positive attitude toward life in all circumstances.

Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
