A Pedigree

You would agree

Sounds something good to have.

Horses have it,

So do dogs,

As well as Heifer calves.

We all have “pedigreements”

Superior and grand.

Just try ESTEEMent good sense

And wave an ageless hand.

* When a friend was visiting us for three weeks in Geneva, Switzerland she was invited to many of the events we attended. Rather than try to translate when people spoke about who was related to whom and how they were related, which is a favorite conversation among the Genevois, I would simply say “pedigree”.  Thus the theme of Alexandra Taylor’s poem. – Bonnie Fatio

Life Is A Patchwork

Life is a patchwork, full of seams,

Stitched together by Age Esteem!

Sewn and gowned with bolts of Time

Hemmed and mended (like this rhyme!).

If this pattern’s good to the end

I’d design it for all my friends!

How You Dream

 All life should be a Palm Beach

With perpetual sunshine,

Where goals are all within reach

And high spirits are so fine.

The Palm fronds would be waving,

The sea an azure blue,

Every picture worth saving

Therein the wisest clue:

The you can be eternal

It’s in how you dream…

In summer, spring, hibernal

You’ll have high AgeEsteem.

Sowing Happiness of Age Esteem

 Hurrying is worrying if you don’t

Take time to live!

Living means giving every moment

A kind of “sieve”:

Sifting our bad habits which make

Old age a chore,

Lifting up your spirits and spreading

Joy galore –

Growing ever brighter and with

Shining inner beams –

Sowing seeds of happiness

Through your Age Esteem.

Life’s Stitches

I am much older but it seems

I feel better (bolder) through Age Esteem –

Going on with hope and daring,

Holding on to friends by caring.

If this continues to the end

All of Life’s stitches I would mend

And I’d have sewn my ragged days

Into patchworked finer ways!

Palm Beach

It’s lovely here in Palm Beach,

There’s so much sun to share!

The sky is just beyond reach,

Beauty’s bounty’s everywhere!

Hibiscus is resplendent,

There are parrots in the trees,

Everyone is wearing white pants

And walking like a breeze.

I think I’ll call it Poem Beach

Where people blend and mingle,

Esteeming there’s no age breach

A tropical Life jingle!

Martin Luther King 2014

And along came Martin Luther King

The one whom to the whole world would bring:

Courage and hope and his ultimate dream:

Singular, spectacular, ageless esteem.

King had dreams and he knew

They really can come true

When you wake up in the morning

And the new day is just dawning,

Instead of wasting time by yawning

Decide that it is time to try

So up you go, and start by smiling

At whoever’s phone you’re dialing

(It’s NOT hard to be beguiling!)
