Honey For Healthy Aging

Honey is rich in antioxidants particular to aiding skin conditions.  It is known to relieve or cure ailments such as psoriasis, eczema and even wounds.  When applied to your skin it enriches it and makes you skin smooth.

Use honey as a healthy replacement for refined sugar. It is healthier for you, too. Use honey in sauces, drinks, and simply as topping on your toast.

Chestnuts For Healthy Aging

Chestnuts For Healthy Aging

Chestnuts are the only nuts that are low in fat, although the fat contained in other nuts is the “good fat”. Thus they are low in calories, containing about one-fourth fewer calories than walnuts and hazelnuts.

Chestnuts contain monounsaturated fatty acids, which are good for the heart. So next the time you enjoy some roasted chestnuts, you can do so with not second thoughts. You are helping your heart stay healthy.

In Europe you can find roasted chestnuts for sale on street corners. They help to keep your hands warm and your heart healthy. Or, roast your own chestnuts at home.

Vieillir En Beauté

Vieillir en beauté

Vieillir En Beauté

Vieillir en beauté, c’est vieillir avec son coeur;

Sans remord, sans regret, sans regarder l’heure;

Aller de l’avant, arrêter d’avoir peur;

Car, à chaque âge, se rattache un bonheur.

Vieillir en beauté, c’est vieillir avec son corps;

Savoir donner sans rien attendre en retour;

Car, où que l’on soit, à l’aube du jour,

Il y a quelqu’un à qui dire bonjour.

Vieillir en beauté, c’est vieillir avec espoir;

Être content de soi en se couchant le soir.

Et lorsque viendra le point de non-recevoir,

Se dire qu’au fond, ce n’est qu’un au revoir.

Say “Yes” to 2016!

January 3rd, 2016 Comments off

????????????????????????????????????Say “Yes” to 2016!

One of the many keys to living with age-esteem is to acknowledge that you have control over the realities of your life.

When I was 12 years old and leaving for summer camp, I said to my mother, “I wonder if I will have any fun. I don’t have any friends going to this camp.” My mother stopped what she was doing, looked me straight in the eyes and asked, “Do you want to have fun?” “Oh, yes!” I replied. “Then decide right now that you are going to have a good time, and you will,” she said simply. I had a fabulous time at camp.

Does this sound too simple?

Assuring your happiness during this new year really can be as simple as deciding what kind of a life you will have in 2016 and then embracing each day as it unfolds.

People with age-esteem know that the number of years you have lived have less influence on your health and happiness than your  attitude. Anticipate happy moments and they will be yours.

Say “Yes” to 2016 and bask in its joys!

Happy New Year!

Blessings Throughout The Year

Blessings Throughout the Year

In the Christian religion the star is a sign of Peace On Earth Good Will Towards All. Christmas is a time of celebrating our Lord’s love. Many traditions surround it in our family: baking and decorating cookies, making gifts to give to others, decorating a tree, family gatherings and a midnight candlelight church service on Christmas eve.

Whether your religious beliefs and traditions are similar, different, or non-existent, my wish for each of you is that you experience blessings of love, joy and peace throughout the whole year.

A Thanksgiving Message – Imagine

A Thanksgiving Message

My name is Marie Skripec and I come from Germany. I would like to share some thoughts with you that I wrote down on Monday of the World YWCA conference in Bangkok 2015.

Amongst others I was inspired by Bonnie Fatio and the exercise she did with us where people stood up and said what they were imagining, what they were dreaming of.

So this is what I imagine:

 I Imagine

I imagine a world

where there are no more armed conflicts,

no more wars

no more people that have to flee from their countries,

that have to leave their homes and their beloved behind

I imagine people,

 women and men

to stand up

and say that we don’t want people to be killed,

we don’t want to support governments and people

that develop cruel strategies

and initiate conflicts and wars

in beautiful countries.

We don’t want any more people and governments

that are responsible for the death of so many people

only

because they seek for more resources, influence and power

claiming to operate in the name of democracy.

I imagine a near future

where we don’t spend our money on weapons, soldiers and armies

but on the protection of our environment, our nature and the people around us,

on education and the future of our present and following generations,

on mutual exchange and learning from each other

all around the globe.

I imagine my country

to take more responsibility,

a sustainable Germany

ecologically, economically, socially and culturally.

 I imagine people

that consume less

and instead open their eyes

to see all the beautiful things around them

and conserve them:

trees, flowers, birds, butterflies

women, men, girls and boys

neighbours, friends, sisters and brothers.

We often say

that we should see the world

through the eyes of a child

 Well, I imagine

that we seriously ask children for their opinions

and consider it in our decisions we make

locally, regionally, nationally and globally.

I imagine

children in our governments.

Parliaments consisting of

male and female leaders of all ages.

Deciding on our present and future,

learning from and relating to good and bad

practices and experiences in the past.

A flexible parliament

ready to learn permanently,

listening to its people and all its variety.

I imagine

many raindrops

changing the direction of many rivers

heading towards a just and fair world

I imagine

 a world in peace

where we all live as one.

Thank you Marie Skripec for these meaningful words. May we share these thoughts with you as we recognize our blessings on this Thanksgiving 2015.

Happy Thanksgiving from AgeEsteem,

Bonnie Fatio

Meet my AgeEsteemer friend, Amy Andersson, who just rappelled down 31 stories of a building in Philadelphia, USA!

She loves to push her comfort zone. During the past few years Amy has driven a dogsledding team in subzero temperatures in Canada, climbed trees and rocks in Pennsylvania, and bicycled in Europe. She says with each new adventure, she gains unique insights into problem-solving and operational processes that she then can apply to her business and those of her clients.

It will not surprise you to learn that Amy also created her business, Andersson Productivity Solutions offering virtual CFO services, at a time in her life when most colleagues of her age were retiring.

Pumpkins And Squash For Healthy Aging

Pumpkins & squash

Pumpkins And Squash For Healthy Aging

Pumpkins and squash come in various deep orange and yellow colors, and these colors are the secret to their very nutritional value.

Rich in vitamins B and C, pumpkins and squash also contain manganese, which is an antioxidant mineral rich in beta-carotene.  Beta-carotene is the ultimate component of nutrition, and the deeper the color, the more beta-carotene the vegetable contains.  It is important to eye health and also an aid to fighting cancer.  As it regulates insulin in the body, it is helpful for diabetes as well.

The omega-3 fatty acids contained in these vegetables provide anti-inflammatory effects adding to their other virtues.

This autumn take advantage of a wide selection of pumpkins and squash to adorn your dinner plate as well as to decorate the table.
